Why Your Pinterest-Inspired Home Feels “Off”
Have you ever saved a beautiful room on Pinterest or Instagram, recreated the look in your own home… and somehow it still doesn’t feel like you?
In this video, I’m talking about why trending interior design, Pinterest inspiration, and Instagram interiors can sometimes leave your home feeling beautiful—but not truly you.
Instead of copying a room from social media, what if you learned how to design from scratch and develop your own interior design style?
We’ll talk about:
• Why a room can look beautiful but still feel “off” in your home
• Why copying Pinterest and Instagram interiors doesn't always work
• How to develop your own interior design style
• How your personal experiences, memories, and the things you love can influence your space
• How to take inspiration from someone else's room without simply copying it
• Why your design style is allowed to evolve as you evolve• How to create a home that feels personal, unique, and genuinely good to live in
• The difference between looking good and feeling good in an interior I share an analogy from clothing that helped me understand this: sometimes a piece can look amazing on someone else, but when you put it on, something just doesn't feel right.
The same thing can happen with interior design. You don't have to abandon Pinterest or stop looking at beautiful interiors. Instead, you can learn how to take inspiration and infuse it with your own life, memories, preferences, and intuition. Because your home doesn't have to look like everyone else's home to be beautiful. It can feel like you.

Title Why Trending Interior Designs on Pinterest and Instagram Are Never Gonna Feel Good To You
Have you seen interior designs on Pinterest or Instagram or maybe in a magazine or your friend's house? And you're like, yeah, I think that looks good. I think that I want that in my space. And you're like, yeah, I think that feels good. And you're like, yeah, I think I want that.
But either you do it and it doesn't quite feel good within your home or there's just something missing. It feels like a little bit dead and like a copycat. It doesn't feel like you. If that's you, you're in the right place. And I'm gonna tell you why.
Learning to design from scratch instead of copying off of Pinterest trends or any social media trends, why learning to design from scratch is always gonna end up feeling better and honestly looking better too. Okay.
hey there, I'm Violet and I'm an interior designer. if you want to learn more about my credentials, you can head to my website, Intuition.
And in case you're interested in my credentials, you can actually just check out my website.
I'm an award-winning interior designer, and now I teach people how to design their own spaces, not a plug. You can check out my website instead of me explaining it. Let's just get into it. Okay. So but sometimes it's nice to tell people who you are, you know. Okay. Let's talk about why.
When you see something on Instagram or Pinterest, and it can be any style of interior. It might be the trending neutrals, or it might be the maximalista tons of color, or maybe it's subtle floral pattern, anything in between. If you've seen something that's caught your eye on Pinterest or Instagram, but it doesn't fully feel like you, or you've put it into your house.
And something feels like not quite right, you're just like, there's something missing. That's because it wasn't designed from your soul, from your intuition to express yourself. let me give you an analogy, see if this makes sense. See if this resonates with you. Let's say you were given hand-me-down clothes as a kid, you put them on, you're like, yeah, this looked really good on
This actually was me in my life, so we'll use a different name. This looks really good on Sarah. But when I put it on me, it's like a little too long, or it just kind of like chafes at my armpit. Or maybe this fabric doesn't feel right, but it looks so good on her, right? Why is that the case? Well
That's because it really was someone else's creation. I instead felt so much better. I twirled around in my not that you have to do this, not that this even is my style anymore, but these floral pink skirts and purple sweatshirts and sparkle this and the plaid stripe thing, which honestly became my style later, and my style has evolved as styles are allowed to, just as we've evolved, just as we've grown. When I wore those hand-me-down clothes, it
It wasn't something that I designed for myself or picked out for myself. and that's not to say that hand-me-down clothes are bad. They're not. it's just to say sometimes
You can take a hand-me-down cloth, but maybe you need it hemmed. Maybe you need to add a button. Just do something to make it a little bit more like you. You can do that same thing with interior design. You can take a room inspiration, but then maybe switch out a fabric so that it relates to something in your life that you care about. Maybe it's something from your grandparents or someone you love in your house. Something that reminds you of them. Maybe it's adding a few photos from your trip somewhere. Maybe it's
picking out pillows from a different room that you've seen that you're like, yo, I want to combine these two things to create my own creation, my own thing. When it's something that feels like it's had some what is this? When it's had some infusion from you,
Doesn't necessarily need to be your personality, but it's your style personality. And your style is gonna evolve and you can learn to develop your own style. That is part of what I teach at my courses. this is all just to say, instead of just blindly taking other people's creations, which we're kind of primed to do on social media.
I'd invite you if it's resonating with you, if you want to feel like a space feels gooey and delicious when you're in it, when you're actually living in it, then I'd invite you to design it from scratch.
And not an ad, but seriously just an option if this is speaking to you. If you want me to teach you how I learn to develop my own style, how I teach my students to create spaces that feel unique to them, feel free to check out my online courses and I would absolutely love to teach you. I'd love to have you in my classes. I make every class feel fun and alive and animated. And more than just a YouTube video where YouTube videos are kind of conceptual. It's like here are the steps and
You're like, okay, I get it, but I still can't do it. In my courses, I give you practices. We do
We do exercises in class and then on your own. So you learn how to do it with the support of me, and then you get to practice that skill on your own, strengthen your skills so that you leave the course and you actually know how to do it yourself. You know how to take a room from completely empty, a blank slate, into something that's alive and feels true to you. I'd honestly be honored if wanted me to teach you. So that's just an option if it's speaking to you.
I think that's it. I'll link a few videos in case you wanna watch more things that I've shared on YouTube. Again, YouTube is just like skimming the surface of what my heart needs to bring into this world, what I do offer in my courses. This is just to get to know me. think that's all. Subscribe if you'd like, no pressure. but would love to have you as part of this YouTube community too. This community.
Yeah, our community together, you and me and all these other people loving and learning interior design from our unique souls. Yeah. Okay. Take good care of you and I'll see you next time. Bye.
I really hope that felt genuine. Sometimes when I get in front of a camera I'm like what do I have to say? But I hope my heart came through and there's a car driving away. Give me one second.
anyways
I hope you felt my heart and my essence. Okay. Bye. See you next time.
